Ctrl+Alt+Delete - In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union

The day after the historic presidential elections happened to be one of the most sentimental moments from Middle America and independent minded global citizens who saw more than just a candidate vying for the highest office in the world. The symbolism is different things to different people but ultimately that we live in a remarkable and wonderful country, and Americans are a wonderfully insightful as they are confusingly complicated people.

The phrases “we the people” and "all things are possible" found a rejuvenated resonance among a generation whose connection with them were a farfetched historical document drummed up in 1776 by a group of white men somewhere in Philadelphia. The dream they talked about was essential the dream for a chosen few, and a nightmare for the rest of us. Since then, the rest of us read the preamble of the United States constitution, but never with that sense of genuine belonging. At best, it was an illusion of what was indeed possible. Until November 4, 2008.
In President Obama’s words, hard work, sacrifice and perseverance can unlock the doors to any dream we all aspire to, even the President of the United States of America. The reflections will continue around the world, the opinions will vary from inspirational, supporting to disappointing; but ultimately Barack Obama did not just ascend to the country’s top gig with two buckets of luck and hope. Not many of us will ever know the work and the enormous sacrifice by millions of people to change the destiny of millions more, but only history will be able to reflect on this day in its full measure.

The election is over, and the rest of us can look forward to life after George Bush; and be grateful that Sarah Palin is not our Vice President. The history is breathtaking and for the rest of our lives, we will remember the moment when America became the country we all hoped for. It has a long way to go, no question about that, but beyond political alignments and labels, this happens to be the dawn of a new day for the world as a whole.

God Bless America, and the pursuit towards a more perfect union; and for that, I say “Yes We Can.”

an Obama win means that ANYONE, male or female, can be president. Not just some white guy. This was a victory for all of us.

Red or yellow, black or white, Obama won because he’s intelligent, charismatic, and he’s not a Bush lackey that has plagued your great country for the past 8 years. It means it’s a big blow to those who hate America. They wanted to justify their hatred of America because they think America is a racist country. With the election of Barack as president will greatly hurt their chances of attacking the United States.

I don’t think it means there isn’t racism in our country. There still is. We saw this at the McCain/Palin rallies; however, I think people ultimately voted with their commonsense.

I am profoundly proud as an American to live to see this day. I have been deeply ashamed and appalled these past 8 years with the manner & arrogance of the Bush Administration since the coup of the 2000 election. My hope is President Obama will have great success in bringing our country to a place of respect & usefulness in the eyes of the rest of the world. I applaud Mr. Obama for his calm graciousness & class throughout this campaign. I wish him all the best in the next four years. Obama 2012

America has spoken & has done it wisefully. Mr Obama regardless his race that's to me utterly unsubtantiated, has shown to be a great orator & that's not little thing. He likewise has proven being a man who does show up to have his ideas well in order, not little thing either whether these days we've plenty leaders who have no idea where actually go. A great motivator too. Thus bear in mind folks he's just a mortal who won't be able to solve everything but still a great stake to be held.

Yes, he might not solve all my problems but it is his humility and humble nature is what liked most.

Now we are ready for change. Thank goodness I don't need to move out of the country now. Obama I hope proves to the world that Americans don't all think the same. Not all of us agree with the policies that have been in effect here for far too long. Our voices have been heard.

However he is facing a mountain of serious national and international problems but with a competant team of advisers I believe he will be successful in overcoming them all given time.

It certainly will be extremely difficult for him to bring the sort of radical departure that America desperately needs from previous domestic, economic and foreign policy that have proved to be disastrous for the whole planet. However, if there is anyone on the planet who can make significant headway in the right direction it is Obama and I wish him well.

I have supported President-elect Obama even before the first primary elections, because I believe that his leadership will take us great places, or more accurately, inspire us to get there together. Obama was correct when he said that the real work begins now. I'm ready...are you?

Obama will undoubtedly change America but he like all politicians is a lightweight against the powerful US business interests. They control the country not the politicians.

This moment is a once in a lifetime moment. Whilst some will clearly still cling to the politics of hate and fear which has typified the Bush presidency, Most have, thank God, finally rejected such politics.

Not only is America having its greatest day, but the world has been changed for the better by the power of democracy. It has been a long hell under Bush and the world is all but destroyed - but now there is hope and I for one, as a citizen of that world, welcomes America back.
